STEAMDIVE
The STEAMDIVE project KA220-SCH-000086968 aims to promote inclusion, diversity and creative thinking in education through innovative uses of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics). The project will develop an integrated set of educational resources focused on diversity, accessible to schools across Europe.
- A central part of the project involves developing a comprehensive STEAM for Diversity curriculum. This curriculum provides learning activities and lesson plans for integrating topics of inclusion, empathy and cultural diversity within STEM subjects for secondary school students. The curriculum adopts a chapter-based framework, with content co-created by partners based on their expertise.
- The project also focuses on using visual arts, especially filmmaking, to strengthen understanding of diversity and inclusion. Students will collaborate to produce three short films highlighting issues of gender diversity, special educational needs, and race diversity. Workshops will train students in areas like scriptwriting, filming and editing techniques to create these films. The films aim to foster empathy, creative thinking and awareness of social issues.
- To further promote diversity through technology and art, the project includes developing two software applications. The first, Maths to Cubism (MTC), teaches students to create digital cubist-style paintings using geometric shapes. Students learn coding to manipulate shapes, then create art inspired by famous cubist painters. The second application, Mirror of Diversity (MOD) is an interactive digital mirror that generates 3D models of students’ faces, then transforms the models to different ethnicities. This helps students view diversity and inclusion from new perspectives.
Partners represent organizations from Greece, Serbia, Portugal, Poland and Turkey. Resources and results will be available to schools across Europe to support progress on diversity, accessibility and inclusion in education. By fostering creative thinking, empathy and social awareness in students through innovative STEAM approaches, the project aims to build a future generation equipped to celebrate diversity and shape a more inclusive society.

Oloklirosi Launches Film Workshops on Diversity as Part of STEAMDIVE Project
Heraklion, Greece – August 26, 2024 – Oloklirosi, a leading organization in educational innovation, is proud to announce the launch of a series of Film Workshops on Diversity under the STEAMDIVE project, an initiative aimed at integrating art into STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) education to promote diversity and inclusion.
The workshops, which will be conducted by award-winning scriptwriter and director Lefteris Giannakoudakis, will train teachers to guide students in the creation of short films that address critical social themes such as gender diversity, racial equality, and the inclusion of individuals with special educational needs.
Focusing on key areas of film production, the workshops will cover:
– Scriptwriting: Teachers will learn to craft compelling narratives that emphasize the importance of diversity and inclusion.
– Directing: Participants will gain hands-on experience in directing, learning how to bring their stories to life on screen.
– Editing and Post-production: The final stage will cover the technical aspects of editing, ensuring that the films are polished and impactful.
Teachers from Greece, Portugal, and Serbia will participate in these workshops and then pass on their newly acquired skills to their students. The resulting films, created under the guidance of these trained teachers, will be showcased across various platforms to promote awareness and highlight the importance of diversity in education and society.
“These workshops represent an exciting fusion of creativity and education,” said Amalia Niniraki, Director at Oloklirosi. “By collaborating with Lefteris Giannakoudakis, we are ensuring that the teachers receive top-notch training, which they will pass on to students who will explore societal issues through a creative lens. The films they create will serve as powerful tools for raising awareness about diversity and inclusion.”
The STEAMDIVE project, supported by the Erasmus+ program, aims to bridge the gap between STEAM education and social consciousness by incorporating art into traditionally technical subjects. This initiative represents a new approach to educational innovation, with the ultimate goal of fostering inclusivity, creativity, and critical thinking in students.
