The  STEAMDIVE project KA220-SCH-000086968 aims to promote inclusion, diversity and creative thinking in education through innovative uses of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics). The project will develop an integrated set of educational resources focused on diversity, accessible to schools across Europe.

  • A central part of the project involves developing a comprehensive STEAM for Diversity curriculum. This curriculum provides learning activities and lesson plans for integrating topics of inclusion, empathy and cultural diversity within STEM subjects for secondary school students. The curriculum adopts a chapter-based framework, with content co-created by partners based on their expertise.
  • The project also focuses on using visual arts, especially filmmaking, to strengthen understanding of diversity and inclusion. Students will collaborate to produce three short films highlighting issues of gender diversity, special educational needs, and race diversity. Workshops will train students in areas like scriptwriting, filming and editing techniques to create these films. The films aim to foster empathy, creative thinking and awareness of social issues.
  • To further promote diversity through technology and art, the project includes developing two software applications. The first, Maths to Cubism (MTC), teaches students to create digital cubist-style paintings using geometric shapes. Students learn coding to manipulate shapes, then create art inspired by famous cubist painters. The second application, Mirror of Diversity (MOD) is an interactive digital mirror that generates 3D models of students’ faces, then transforms the models to different ethnicities. This helps students view diversity and inclusion from new perspectives.

Partners represent organizations from Greece, Serbia, Portugal, Poland and Turkey. Resources and results will be available to schools across Europe to support progress on diversity, accessibility and inclusion in education. By fostering creative thinking, empathy and social awareness in students through innovative STEAM approaches, the project aims to build a future generation equipped to celebrate diversity and shape a more inclusive society.
