RETES Project: Strengthening Resilience in Tourism through Education and Skills
The RETES Project (Resilience Enhancement in Tourism through Education and Skills), funded under the Erasmus+ Programme (Project Code: 2025-1-IT01-KA220-VET-000353875), is an innovative European initiative aiming to strengthen the resilience of the tourism sector in the face of natural hazards and emergencies.
In an era marked by climate change, increasing environmental risks and complex crises, RETES focuses on equipping tourism professionals with the necessary skills, knowledge and tools to effectively respond to emergencies and collaborate with civil protection authorities.
Our Mission
RETES seeks to bridge the gap between the tourism sector and disaster risk management (DRM) by fostering cooperation, preparedness and skills development.
The project aims to:
- Enhance the capacity of tourism professionals to respond to emergencies
- Promote collaboration between tourism stakeholders and civil protection actors
- Develop innovative training methodologies tailored to the needs of the tourism ecosystem
- Strengthen resilience at local, regional and European levels
Collaborative Approach
The RETES partnership brings together public authorities, VET providers and innovation organisations across Europe, ensuring a strong multi-sectoral approach to resilience in tourism.
Through this collaboration, the project adopts a holistic, practice-oriented and impact-driven approach, combining education, policy and real-life application.

Key Activities
The project is structured around a series of interconnected activities designed to create real impact:
- Local Mapping & Stakeholder Engagement
Identification of tourism ecosystems and disaster risk management actors in pilot areas.
- Local Workshops & Action Plans
Co-creation of Local Action Plans through participatory workshops involving key stakeholders.
- Development of a Digital Training Toolkit
Creation of innovative educational resources and training modules for tourism professionals.
- Pilot Training & Validation
Testing of the developed tools through real-life scenarios and training activities.
- Certification & Micro-credentials
Recognition of skills acquired through the project using modern certification approaches.
