This course equips educators and trainers with the knowledge and tools to assess the vulnerability of theirown regions to climate change and natural hazards, and to design educational strategies tailored to theseconditions. Through interdisciplinary and project-based approaches, participants will explore how topromote environmental awareness, community resilience, and collaborative climate action amongstudents. The island of Crete will be used as a case study for identifying vulnerabilities and educationalresponses.
PurposeThe purpose of this course is to empower teachers to design and implement educational strategies thatfoster sustainability and resilience based on the specific vulnerabilities of their regions.   • Understand key concepts of sustainability, vulnerability, and resilience in the context of the climate crisis.
  • Assess the specific vulnerabilities of their own regions (environmental, social, and infrastructural).
  • Design interdisciplinary and project-based learning activities tailored to local conditions.
  • Gain strategies for promoting environmental awareness, eco-literacy, and student action on climate issues.
  • Learn from the example of Crete how to adapt teaching practices to areas with different hazard profiles and socio-economic contexts.
  • Build collaborative school-community cultures for climate action.

  • Note: Participants must have at least a CEFR level B2 knowledge of English in order to be able to participate actively.

  • Lectures, group work, hands-on workshops, case studies, study visits, and excursions.
  • Tools: Canva, MindMeister, SDG resources, vulnerability mapping tools, geospatial data, project design templates, and collaborative platforms.

Study Visits

  • During the course, we also organize study visits to local schools. We discuss with participants their needs and we organize study visits to cover these needs. We usually organize study visits to: 

    • Early education – Primary education – Secondary education – Adult education local schools.
    • Special needs education schools.
    • Museums.

In course fee includes
